Pierogania Staropolska

Pierogi restaurant.
Very reasonable prices and tasty fare.
The milkshakes here are great.

Dwor Atrusa

Cultural centre. Hosts regular classical music concerts.

Church of St Mary.

One of the three large churches near the old town sqaure.

Cinema City

Cinema multiplex with six screens showing current mainstream releases.

Metropolis

Pizza and grill restaurant.

Metropolis is a popular restaurant and often full. It serves some of the biggest pizzas I have ever seen. Reasonably priced.

Leaning Tower

Chilled bar in a landmark location.

Occupying the upper floors of the leaning tower this is a nice chilled place to drink.

Try and stand with your heels and shoulders against the leaning wall without falling over. Do this after drinking there for maximum fun.

The tower started life as a city guard tower and has since been a women's prison, lodgings for a gunsmith and an apartment building.

Miles

Jazz themed late night bar.

Quiet basement bar that is open until the wee small hours. Have not actually heard much jazz in here however to be honest.

Manekin

Polish pancake (nalesniki) restaurant.

Very cheap, tasty and filling. The pancakes here are great value with a good choice of fillings both sweet and savoury. The soups are pretty good too.

Pizza Staromiejska

Italian pizza and pasta restaurant.

The pasta dishes are Italian filtered through a Polish kitchen. The pizzas however are really good. Nice thin crust dough made by an Italian pizza chef in a wood fired oven.

There is - as ever in local pizza restaurants - a massive array of choice for your toppings.

Sphinx

Sphinx is a restaurant on the Rynek Staromeijska (Old Town Square).

The menu is the standard grill/pizza combo with a variety of kebab like dishes. All the portions are generous and some of the larger specials (the Big Pharon and the like) are truly huge. The grilled trout here is also good.

Prices are very reasonable with an average meal for 2 including drinks coming in at around 60 zlotly.

Kuranty

Kuranty is a bar/restaurant on the Rynek Staromeijska (Old Town Square).

The bar has a vague English pub theme although don't let that put you off, it's not badly done. This is one of the few places in Torun that serve Guinness, although it's at UK prices.

The bread pierogi is especially good along with the soups, particularly the zurek and the "gypsy soup".

The rest of the menu is pretty decent and manages to avoid the usual fall back of grill/kebab/pizza seen in so many places.

Prices are reasonable with only the steaks (although very good by local standards) being a bit pricey compared to the rest of the menu .
